It’s a Fast Five with US Women’s Champion’s Paige Pierce.
Congratulations on the U.S. Women’s title. It seems like the competition is getting tougher and more competitive every year with new names – and some older ones – stepping up to push the sport forward. How did it feel to take home this title with this strong field around you?
“Yeah I definitely think that all the ladies played well this weekend and then with Liz Carr back in the mix it was a fun battle! It meant a lot to me personally being my first USWDGC title, and to top that, it was in very tight woods.”
What are your plans for the off season? Training? Traveling? Rest?
“In the off season, I will be mostly resting and taking time off to help my best friend plan her wedding, which is in January. I will start up hard training immediately after and do a lot of indoor rock climbing and practicing on fixing the small flaws in my technique I have encountered this season.”
Would you considering trying to play-in to the USDGC on Monday?
“Yes. I am already planning on trying to qualify for the USDGC on Monday. If I do not make it I am playing the performance side.”
There was a rumor that you are talking to MTV about a reality show; how is that going?
“Yes. MTV is making a show about up-and-coming sports and disc golf is one that they are looking into. They have done about 30 interviews and are making their decisions soon, I believe.”
In Japan, you were sighted singing karaoke; What songs do you like to sing and would you consider recording an all-Prodigy team jam?
“Ha! I like to sing anything with a beat that gets people pumped up, no slow songs for sure. As far as the team jam, I am not sure that that would happen as we are not singers but, I am sure that we would all be in for a karaoke session!”
And the name of the song?
“All About That Bass.”
